All About Plants

Teacher: Millie Davis
Day: Thursday
Fee: $120 or 3 payments of $45

Description: Let’s learn about PLANTS! Students will learn about plants through a variety of hands-on, oral and written activities that stimulate their natural curiosity.  They will explore the plant life cycle from seeds to flowering plants. Our young researchers will gather and record data through direct observations, photographs, drawings and written documentation.  Students will become budding botanists as we address such topics as planting, pollination, germination and photosynthesis As a culminating activity, students will design and create their own dish or fairy garden.  Students will be encouraged to share their classroom experiences with their family and there will be no additional homework required.

All About Spelling

Teacher: Susan Patchin
Day: Tuesday
Fee: $100 or 3 payments of $40

Description: This class is for children learning to spell.  We will be using All About Spelling level one book.  I will provide all the learning tools. We will learn about spelling rules, phonograms, and counting syllables.    We will also learn to spell words with short vowels, initial blends and words ending in ff, ll, and ss.

Description: This homeschool curriculum uses beloved children’s literature to teach in a way that causes children to fall in love with learning. At home, children will read a designated book several times with a parent.  In co-op, connections between the book and Social Studies, Geography, Language Arts, Applied Math, and Science will be made with hands-on activities.

Hands on Geometry – 1 Spot Left

Description: Who doesn’t love a science experiment? Hypotheses, variables, and results oh my! In this class, we will go over how to conduct a science experiment, starting at the hypothesis and all the way down to graphing results. There will be LOTS of messy fun along the way. Towards the end of the semester we will have our own mini science fair, where the kids can bring in their own projects and tell the class about it.

Spanish Explorers – FULL

Description: Start basic reading, listening comprehension, speaking and writing activities, and interactive activities which reinforce the learning.
Students should expect to become familiar with common vocabulary words, participate in simple conversations, respond appropriately to basic conversational prompts, and analyze and compare cultural events. ( this is very basic, with the idea that the student will grow to like and appreciate the language over the first 2 semesters)

Unplugged Coding – FULL

Description: You don’t need a computer to learn the basics of coding. Using hands on activities we’ll be exploring the ideas of debugging, algorithms, programs, loops, and repeats. We’ll also be working on learning to persist when things get frustrating. Internet safety will have more then one dedicated lessons. Even though we won’t be using a computer in class, there will be opportunities to do optional activities at home via code.org. Our curriculum will be pulled from code.org’s elementary lessons A-C.
